Vocational Services
A major life goal for many people is to lead productive, fulfilling lives - and to contribute to society. This goal is no different for people with disabilities.
Niagara CP is very proud of the hundreds of individuals who are placed in continued employment through our vocational programs each year through the NCP's Community Vocational Rehabilitation Center (CVRC) and Job Placement Office.
Some of the vocational services currently provided include:
- Supported Employment Program - Niagara CP assists individuals to obtain and maintain paid employment in the community. The services take place in integrated work settings and are based on a person's abilities, interests and experience. Job coaches help train individuals on-the-job and provide follow-up support.
For more information on Supported Employment, call NCP's Job Placement Office: 716-284-6441
- Sheltered Workshop - Adults with disabilities who are eligible are offered several opportunities to meet their personal and vocational goals through work skills training. The sheltered employment program is unique in that not only is there no charge for services, but program participants are paid for the work that they perform.
- Support Services - Through the vocational centers, NCP has a professional staff able to provide: adult basic education, case management, counseling, health care support (help with feeding, toileting and other personal needs) and enrichment opportunities to foster independence in the community.
- Life and Employment Enrichment Program - This program was developed to provide the program participants in the vocational division with services not traditionally offered in the workshop setting (occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, nutrition, independent living skills and independence in travel training).
- Transportation - Transportation is available through Niagara CP for participants in the vocational programs. The agency operates several specially equipped vans to transport persons using wheelchairs or other adaptive equipment. Agency facilities are also easily accessible through municipal transportation.
- Day Habilitiation - Activities are coordinated in integrated settings within the community with a priority to reinforce life skills.
